
The solution is to either improve the rep grind (which it appears they're trying in SL) or just make it account-wide. The end result are bad either way and it drives people away from the game. But if you make a new character you'd be forced to grind out all those reputations anew. Not to mention that classes/specs get reworked/changed and now maybe you really don't enjoy playing your main. It's not good game design to punish you for wanting to try a new class in an MMORPG. It's an outdated mechanic which dissuade players from trying new classes/races, because you're incentivized to play on one character to keep your rep amassed.

It's not engaging to farm Valarjar rep from cakewalk world quests, it's just tedious. Every faction (aside from occasional current content) are super easy to farm, just mindnumbingly dull.
